URC TO KICKOFF 61st SEASON. . . TAKING 360 SPRINT CAR RACING TO NEW HEIGHTSPosted: January 13th, 2008 URC TO KICKOFF 61st SEASON, , , , TAKING 360 SPRINT CAR RACING TO NEW HEIGHTS!
For sixty years, the URC Sprint Car Series have toured the Eastern United States, presenting some 1,397 racing events and entertaining millions of race fans. It's hasn't always been a glorious road for the Nation's oldest traveling sprint car series, but since the direction as turned to operating with a business approach, URC grows more solid with each year. Corporate sponsorship joined by local and regional sponsors have allowed URC to richen the pot for the competitors, without increasing the cost to track operators. URC has delivered solid car counts with twenty-eight to thirty-two cars competing in most show, a statement that very few, if any, traveling sprint cars organizations can claim.
As URC prepares to launch their sixty-first season, the RISLONE URC Sprint Series will once again offer a "smart" schedule for 2008. URC's approach for the new season is to firm-up our local tracks and partner with these facilities to increase their fan base. URC customized posters for each event, driver appearances and participating is various pre-season car show events, will help drive URC awareness and build a following. On race night, URC Managing Members and Officials will again work with local track officials to present one of the most efficiently run multiple divisions shows. "It's key that we streamline our programs to keep the shows running smoothly and in a timely manner", commented Managing Member and Race Director Bob Miller. "These events are all about selling speed so we can't have long drawn out programs. Transponders for scoring and in-car radios have contributed greatly to deliver a well run show", added Miller.
For 2008, twenty-eight race dates are on the schedule with opening day set for Saturday night, April 12 at the Bridgeport Speedway. Several special events will highlight the Series including the $3,500 to win 3rd Annual Jack Gunn Memorial at the Selinsgrove Speedway on Saturday night, May 17.
