Curt Michael is URC's All Time Champ!
Curt Michael, the URC perennial champion of the new millennium, proved that records are made to be broken.
Capturing his sixth United Racing Company Championship is impressive enough, but this particular 2008 title is one for the record books. The Ocean View, Delaware sprint car veteran has become the first driver in the 61-year history of URC to win five consecutive championships; a record formerly held by Hall of Fame favorite Glenn Fitzcharles. Only one driver shares the distinction of winning 6 URC crowns; Hall of Famer Earl Halaquist.
What’s even more impressive? Curt Michael is only 36 years old, relatively young compared to other history making drivers in their prime. Time is on Curt Michael’s side to shatter even more records, and make his achievements untouchable for years to come.
Curt Michael has become the driver of choice for prominent URC car owners, and for good reason. Long-time car owner Bill Gallagher, owner of Valley Forge, Inc. had all the ingredients to win a URC title, but fell short each season. He hired Curt Michael in hopes to change that, and he wasn’t disappointed. In addition to winning the URC title, Bill Gallagher also visited victory lane three times this season, and URC still has three events remaining on the schedule.
Other owners earning a URC title with the Southern Delaware pilot include Kathy Palladino, Mike Bostic, and Frank Davis.
As for 2009, Bill Gallagher can rest easy because Curt Michael will return to URC full-time and looks forward to the opportunity to race for the likeable car owner from King of Prussia, Pa. and vehemently defend their title.
